Antonio Jiménez by Lisa Homer

Antonio Jiménez-Marín is engaged in exploring and extending the boundaries of his instrument. His activities span across solo recitals, lectures, improvisations, theater, ensemble music and as a chamber musician to various formations. Antonio has performanced at festivals such as Aldeburgh Festival, Paris Manifest, London Proms, Lucerne Festival, Wien Modern and Zeiträume Basel with ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Klangforum Wien, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Basel Phoenix Ensemble and Collegium Novum Zürich.

Founding member of Neon Ensemble and a regular guest with les trombones du bâle and the composers slide quartet. Alumni from IEMA, sonic space basel and Lucerne Festival Academy. Antonio has also performed with orchestras such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Filarmónica de Gran Canaria and the Collegium Musicum Basel. Since 2017 he has a duo voice and trombone with the Swiss Soprano Viviane Hasler.

Born in Spain, Jiménez-Marín graduated in music and trombone in Granada (BMus), Glasgow (MMus), Frankfurt (IEMA-Master) and Basel (MA). In 2017 Antonio received the “Master of Arts for Specialized Performance of Contemporary Music” at the City of Basel Music Academy with distinction, where he studied with Mike Svoboda.
