Antonio Marin was born in Spain. From an early age, he was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, shaping his diverse freelance career. He is active both in orchestras and contemporary music ensembles in Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany, as well as in various chamber music projects — among them the brass quintet of the Argovia Philharmonic and his own HEKATE DUO for voice and trombone. In addition, he is active in jazz crossover and improvisation, performing for example with guitarist Sandro Giampietro (Helge Schneider Band) as a headliner at the Zappanale 2025 music festival. In the 2025/26 season, he will appear at the Zurich Opera House in Wie du warst by Simon Steen-Andersen. He also performs as a guest artist in various projects with Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, the Basel Sinfonietta, the Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain, Ensemble Ascolta, and the SWR Vocal Ensemble.

As a soloist, Antonio Marin was awarded the John Cage Award in 2023. Further distinctions he has received include the John Wallace Prize and the David James Brass Prize in the UK. He studied trombone in Glasgow with Simon Johnson and pursued studies in contemporary music and music education in Basel with Prof. Michael (Mike) Svoboda.

Antonio Marin wurde in Spanien geboren. Bereits in jungen Jahren kam er mit einer großen stilistischen Vielfalt in Berührung, was seine vielseitige freiberufliche Tätigkeit prägte: Er ist sowohl in Orchestern und Ensembles für Neue Musik in der Schweiz, Spanien, Großbritannien und Deutschland engagiert als auch in Kammermusikprojekten, darunter bei dem Blechbläserquintett der Argovia Philharmonic und seinem eigenen HEKATE DUO für Stimme und Posaune.

Darüber hinaus ist er im Jazz-Crossover und in der Improvisationsmusik aktiv, so etwa gemeinsam mit dem Gitarristen Sandro Giampietro (Helge Schneider Band) als Headliner bei dem Musikfestival Zappanale 2025. In der Spielzeit 2025/26 ist er am Opernhaus Zürich in »Wie du warst« von Simon Steen-Andersen zu erleben. Zudem tritt er als Gast in verschiedenen Projekten mit dem Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, der Basel Sinfonietta, dem Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain, dem Ensemble Ascolta und dem SWR Vokalensemble auf.
